I think what you are seeing are the the files contained within the self-extracting zip file you downloaded. If you have not already installed OOo, try to locate a file (icon) named "setup" or "setup.exe" and double click on it to start the installation. After you install OOo you will find the links (shortcuts) to start the program components (eg. Writer, Calc, etc) in your "Start -> All Programs" menu When the installation has completed you will no longer need those desktop files (icons) and they can be deleted (sent to the "Recycle Bin"). I would suggest that you first open and read one of the "readme" files that should be amongst the files (icons) on your desktop, or better still read the information here: http://download.openoffice.org/common/instructions.html and get the "Setup Guide" from here: http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide2/index.html Hope this helps.
