The mysterious "read only" syndrome is at play ... I don't know the
reason, but I've encountered this, both with my self (rarely) and with
people whom I'm instructing. A document will be opened, and for some
reason, it is opened as "read only".
The most certain solution that I have found is to simply do a File >
Save As, and save it as a slightly different name as the original. Then
you should be able to edit it.
