I think that you can safely ignore the previous Vista advise. You may,
or may not, have read the news lately; Wal-Mart are selling Everex
computers w/Windows Vista Basic and OOo 2.2, see:

There are indeed issues that MS Vista have in their various flavours,
however the are for some other thread. You can run OOo on your Vista OS;
download it and give it a try :-)
