You stated that you are using this over a LAN. Therefore, this sounds very
much like a networking problem rather than a printing problem as such.
Can you ping the printer?
Pinging is not a problem. As I mentioned in my original posting, lpstat
-p -d indicated the printer correctly as does this:
# CUPS_DEBUG_LEVEL=2 ; /usr/local/libexec/cups/backend/snmp 2>&1 | tee
snmp.log
I don't think it's networking. I would think it is either permissions or
commands or users or something like that.
I'm not a programmer but I can muck my way around in unix as an
enthusiastic user. I had installed and used cups before and I believe,
no, I am sure that it did work with an earlier version of openoffice.
I have noticed that it is getting more and more difficult for a "Joe
Schlub" like me to install stuff without extensive web-searching and a
lot of trial and error.
