The .pdf export function will allow a message to be sent via email that cannot be changed by the receiver. A password to open the document can also be added. If you add a password then call the receiver with the password and do not send it via email, particularly with the message, as so many do. I use .pdf password protected files to post on my website for students in my classes. This allows the students to read them but keeps the class content private for the students only. Of course further security can be added using Winrar by RarLabs.com, similar to zipping a file, to add further layers of password protection to a read only file. Winrar is a free to test program by RarLabs.

I do agree that the document can be creating to a read only file through

However, my concern is this : I wish to send it by email and was hoping
that someone else could arrive at reading it but not be able to modify
it. That was really my concern. Is there no possibility of creating a
read only file protected by a password???

Thanks

Eric

Hi Eric

I cannot create a read only document protected from being modified if
shared with others.
I was very surprised that such a function was never included in OO.
Making a document read only is a function of the operating system.

In Windows, right-click the file and select Properties. From there you
can click Read Only.

Hope this helps.

Adrian
