Is SeaMonkey configured as the "default" e-mail program? I've never
installed it but most programs like this (browsers, e-mail programs, office
suites etc.) ask at install time. Alternatively there will almost certainly
be an option somewhere within SeaMonkey itself. The Help text may be useful.

When you installed SeaMonkey, were you logged in as an Administrator?

When you use OpenOffice and try to send your document, are you logged in as
Administrator?

Does a simple "Save as Microsoft Excel" work OK?

Within Writer/Calc, if you do File>Save As, is the "Automatic file name
extension" box (near the bottom) checked? If not, does checking it (and
possibly restarting OO) make a difference? Oh, before changing options like
this within OO I find it worthwhile to do the following:
1. Shut down OO
2 Shut down the quickstarter; if that's running there will be an icon for it
in the System Tray (grey/blue with two flying birds pictured). Right click
that icon and choose Exit.
3. Start Writer/Calc from the Start>All Programs menu.
4. Make the change(s)
5. Quit Writer?Calc
6. Start Writer/Calc from the Start ... menu

A workaround would be to save your document and then explicitly attach it
from within SeaMonkey. Does that work?).

Otherwise, without actually sitting at your keyboard and "playing" I'm
afraid I'm out of ideas.

Perhaps someone else ???
