Noop,
a) He's using Windows and there is *no* place in OO for Windows to set a
path for a mail program
b) He probably never saw your reply because he's not subscribed and I doubt
he's using a news reader to read this list.

I didn't include him on the post because I hadn't booted into windows &
tested - my reply was linux related. However, I've just booted into
windows (WinXPPro) and tested: SeaMonkey works just fine in sending from
OOo (File|Send|Document as E-mail) as long as SeaMonkey is set as the
default email client. The Mozilla Plug-in in Tools|Options|Internet has
nothing to do with it; OOo (Windows) just looks for, and uses the
default email client.

Tested with:
Windows XP Professional
SeaMonkey 1.1.5 and 1.1.6 (pre-release)
File|Send|Document as E-mail| opens the SeaMonkey email compose window
and the document is attached & ready for sending.

I appreciate all this help. I'm sorry
I don't know how to subscribe to the email group. I'll do it if you'll tell me how.
SeaMonkey is set as my DEFAULT CLIENT
Using Windows, XP, Home Edition and SeaMonkey 1.1.5
In OO, when going to File | Send | etc., options of sending as PDF and Open Document Spreadsheet work just fine. It is only when I try to use Send Document as E-mail or Send E-mail as Microsoft Excel that I receive the message "The operation on C:\DOCUME~1\Popper\LOCALS~1\Temp\svgpc.tmp was started with an invalid parameter." After clicking on the "OK", the following message comes up: "An error occurred in sending the message. Possible errors could be a missing user account or a defective setup. Please check the OpenOffice.org settings or your e-mail program settings."

1. You don't *need* to be subscribed to get help. It's just that if you aren't we have to remember explicitly to include your e-mail address in our replies and sometimes we forget. To subscribe, go to http://support.openoffice.org/index.html and click "Subscribe" against "Users Mail List" (3rd down, left column). The result will be that you send an e-mail to a magic address. You'll get a reply. Read it and do what it asks. After that you'll get one more e-mail saying you are subscribed. Now you will see *all* the traffic on this list, which might be more than you want. You can unsubscribe if you like. Just read and follow the instructions at the bottom of any of the e-mails you get from this support group.

2. I'm a bit (understatement of the year) puzzled that you are getting this error if SeaMonkey is really configured as your default mail program. Is the "Automatic file name extension" box checked in the "Save as" dialogue? If not, check it and see if that helps.

3. When you clicked "Subscribe" in #1 above, did SeaMonkey spring into life with a blank but correctly addressed e-mail?

I've just subscribed to the list, got the reply, etc and am now "welcome" to the list.

I'm sorry to hear that you're puzzled about my problem.

Yes, the automatic file name extension is checked in the "save as" dialogue.

Yes, when I clicked "Subscribe" SeaMonkey sprang into life - as it does with everything except the two OO functions I've mentioned in my previous emails.

Woops, my wife just came in with the OO disk. I'm going to uninstall current version and do a hard install off the disk. Maybe that'll cure the problem. Going to do it now.

I've just done a hard install and the problem persists. I don't know enough to make any guesses - but - I can send anything I need to send in PDF format so, that's what I'll do.

Thanks again.
Serge
