Hi,
I have studied the two sites suggested to me and I would like to clarify
some issues. E.g when creating a template for the whole book starting
with the title, preface, TOC etc do I have to open a new page by
inserting a page break or there is some other way?
Another thing is that inserting breaks is suggested as being done before
the page. Is there a reason for this; wouldn't it be better after?
Tks
Whenever there is a change in the page style, you need a page break, and
you may need more than one page style for a section like the table of
contents, one for the first page and another for successive pages. The
first page of the TOC should always be a right page, while following
pages can be either right or left. Ditto for indexes and glossaries.
Part of the specification of the style for the first TOC page would be
the page style that should follow.
I have never tried specifying a page break after a paragraph. I think
that the first paragraph on a page of a section is more likely to be
unique than the last paragraph, so it generally works better to make the
break come before that.
Since page break info is contained in a paragraph, you need to be
careful when deleting lots of text. If you accidentally delete the
break information, the page will take the style of the preceding page,
which can get confusing fast.
However you do it, you'll probably know more about page and paragraph
styles when you're done than you wanted to when you started.
