I decided to try a couple of experiments to see if I could open the new Word DOCX files. I tried two methods. One was Novell's version of OpenOffice, as included (and updated) in OpenSUSE 10.3. The other was to use Word Viewer 2003 and Compatibility Pack on XP. The Compatibility Pack is required, to enable the Word Viewer to open DOCX files. Using Word Viewer, the documents I obtained looked normal. However, in OpenOffice the formating was off (i.e. single line spacing instead of double) and things like tables or images didn't make it, though the table text did. So, it appears Novell's support allows little more than text recovery and features such as images and tables are not supported. If they provided that using the published OOXML specs, then perhaps those specs need more work. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
