Mrs Hartmann, I have the feeling that you only downloaded the files which constitute the program, but did not install them on your computer. Have you followed the installation procedure as described in the page from where you downloaded OpenOffice? If you write a second message to [email protected] with more details about what your operating system is, what are the names of the file you downloaded and of the icon you clicked, it may be possible to provide specific help.
