A more correct answer would be "it depends upon what the OP is trying to do.'

OOo can talk to the database used by various calender programs.
AFAIK, there aren't any extensions that allow OOo to internally
synchronize two or more calenders.

There is a contact manager that was developed for OOo 1.0, or
thereabouts, that did contain a calender function.

OOo can not correct for incompetence in creating documents from MSO.
