It's certainly acceptable to advise someone else of your preferences,
particularly if you have good reasons, as you do. It is not acceptable
for anyone to claim his preferences are standard or to suggest that
another poster will be flamed or otherwise intimidated for having
different preferences.
Keep in mind that this list deals with software that wouldn't exist if
there weren't so many people objecting to having a standard crammed down
their throats. We prefer ODF, but we don't tell anyone it's "right".
(We tell them we think it's right and that everyone is free to throw his
money down a hole; it's his own choice.)
