This situation occurs so often that the following advice could help, unfortunately the fact that you are reading this means for you the advice will be of no use at all. That said the PC User magazine in Australia has a DVD attached each month that contains amongst a host of free programs usually OpenOffice although I notice the Feb issue has Oxygen Office Pro. OK you have to buy the magazine (Aus $8.95) but you get the program and a magazine to read. I feel sure that a similar situation would exist in other countries. Perhaps a list could be compiled and attached to the OpenOffice download page, just a thought!

To clarify what others have been telling you, Open Office is
distributed under the GPL license. That means two things:
1) It is available free of charge from the OOo website.
2) People not affiliated with OOo may resell the software for a price.
