They may be paying for support (as per the GPL). Note, however, that
"support" may very well be only a link to this mailing list.

In any case, if money is collected, then a disc _should_ be delivered.
Can the OP provide a link to the page from which he purchased the
software?

And, I should note, buying software from spam emails is not
recommended, for quite this reason.
