No. Sun offers a free ODF plug-in for Microsoft Office, which you can download via the following link : http://tinyurl.com/2zjqms But downloading OpenOffice is a far more satisfactory solution. No, not unless you want it to - and even if you should set OpenOffice to open all your Word documents by default (which you certainly do not need to do), you would still retain the ability to open any specific document in Word.
