The firewall software is built into the kernel. It's not a separate
package, as in Windows.
Windows firewall is integrated - you can not remove it.
In fact even NT4 (and probably earlier) had port blocking capabilities
as part of OS (in 1997!).
As I've mentioned in other notes, Linux & Unix
security is built in and not added on.
