I am having one problem with it. When I import a | picture into the Office Writer and send the file in an email as an | attachment to someone who does have open office, when she opens the | file, the pictures do not show up. I tired saving it has an .odt and | as a .doc and I even converted it to a .pdf. Still no images are | showing up. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something extra I | need to do? | | I scanned the picture in and opened it up through Paint. I cut and | copied what I wanted out of the picture to the document. | | When that didn't work, I rescanned the picture and used the import | feature and it still didn't show up when my friend tried to view it. | It shows up on my end, but not theirs. | | Please help me. Thank you. | | Jennifer Rickards It sounds like you are "linking" the external picture to your document, as opposed to "embedding" it. A linked picture only exists on your computer, therefore it will not appear on the recipient's computer. Try this: 1. Open a new Writer "test" document. 2. Select the "Insert -> Picture -> From File..." menu option. 3. When the file selection window opens, make sure that the "Link" check box is _NOT_ ticked/checked. 4. Choose your picture file and click "OK". Your picture should now be "embedded" in your document. Pictures/images copied and pasted into documents should always be embedded. So I cannot explain why that did not work for you. Hope this helps. First when I go to Edit in the menu bar, Links... is grayed out, and I have a picture selected, so I can't click on it. So I tried to inport another picture to make sure the Link box wasn't checked and it wasn't and the other pictures don't have a link on them either. It still can't be viewed by the outside person when I send it to them, in Open Office or Adobe. I'm sorry to be a pain, but I don't know what else to do. Thanks for your time. Jennifer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He sent me the same information that you did. thank you for your time. If you know anything else it could be or have any other suggestions, let me know.
