I'm considering using Open Office as I just purchased a laptop that runs
Vista, and MS Office 2007 is ridiculously expensive.
Here is the question - I've used Ms Outlook as my e-mail client for years.
Does Open Office have something similar? I did not see anything mentioned in
the product list. Or are you aware of another free, or cheap alternative to
outlook that would be compatible with Open Office?

OpenOffice does not include an email program. However, it works well
with Thunderbird, which can be downloaded for free from
www.mozilla.com. While you're there, you might also want to get
Firefox, which is an excellent browser, so you can avoid using Internet
Explorer.
