Oops - sorry, forgot the subject line and copy to OP.
If you double-click on the downloaded file, it should start the
installation process automatically (including extracting the
installation files to a folder). The only thing you may need to think
about is whether you want to use OpenOffice.org (OOo) by default on the
MS Office filetypes like .doc, .xls, and .ppt. You may want to leave
them as MS Office to begin with; you can change your default later if
you want. When the installation is complete, you should have a folder in
your Start menu with all the OOo applications. At that point, you can
delete the downloaded file and the installation folder if you want, or
keep the downloaded file for reinstallation if necessary.

Thank you for the insight. I am not computer dumb, however...I have
downloaded the program to my c drive, and now what is next? must all of the files
be extracted? If so, can i place them in one file? What is the .exe file
that controls startup? I know this is a lot to ask of someone for some help,
however, if this project is as neat as I think it is going to be.......I would
love to be involved with this project in anyway that i can help.
Again, Thanks.

Just curious. Are there plans to have the platform run on VISTA? Looks
like a very cool project.
Thanks,

The latest (2.3) version of OpenOffice has been optimised to run on
Vista. The only thing it can't do is read/write Microsoft's new "2007"
documents (.docx, .pptx and so on). That'll come in September (at least
read will; not sure about write). Click "System Requirements" on the
download page http://download.openoffice.org/ for details.
