Thank you for the insight. I am not computer dumb, however...I have
downloaded the program to my c drive, and now what is next? must all of the
files
be extracted? If so, can i place them in one file? What is the .exe file
that controls startup? I know this is a lot to ask of someone for some help,
however, if this project is as neat as I think it is going to be.......I would
love to be involved with this project in anyway that i can help.

Again, Thanks.

The latest (2.3) version of OpenOffice has been optimised to run on
Vista. The only thing it can't do is read/write Microsoft's new "2007"
documents (.docx, .pptx and so on). That'll come in September (at least
read will; not sure about write). Click "System Requirements" on the
download page http://download.openoffice.org/ for details.
