If you're still having trouble with the install, the "incomplete or corrupted" issue is sometimes because your antivirus software is complaining about a perfectly safe file. If you got the file from www.openoffice.org (the official website -- careful, there are others out there that may not be safe):

   * After downloading the file, completely disconnect your computer
     from the internet.
   * Turn off the antivirus software.
   * Double-click on the downloaded file and follow the instructions in
     the installation dialogs. You can generally just accept the
     defaults, but you need to think about what application will be the
     default for opening MS Office filetypes (.doc, .xls, .ppt). You
     can always change later, and both OpenOffice.org (OOo) and MS
     Office can be used on the same computer. If your new computer came
     with Office 2007 trial software, be aware that the new default
     formats for that (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx) are not reliably readable
     by any other applications; you should save in the old formats with
     Save As if you use Office, so your files will still be usable
     after the trial period without buying Office.
   * When installation is complete, turn the antivirus software back on.
   * Reconnect to the internet.
