Great. The Select Source option just lets you set up which scanner you will be using for the Request option, which is not necessary if you have only one scanner (but you mentioned two in an earlier note, I think, so it may be relevant).

Yes, you can scan into OpenOffice. Just click on Insert > Picture > Scan and go from there.
