Hi,
Just looking to install OpenOffice. A couple of points....
Looking at the download page I see the version offered is "US English" -
I cannot seem to find a "UK English" option (which is the spellchecker I
would want to utilise)
When is version 3 likely to be available? - is it available on Beta
release? (I have seen several references to it on the net but there was
no link to the download area).
Regards - and many thanks in anticipation.

I don't think there is a UK English version at the moment. There are two
aspects to language: the first is the GUI (Graphical User Interface) -
menus, Help text, tool tips, error messages; the second is the language
in which you want to write documents and in which you want spell
checking to be done. I use the US GUI and just tolerate the few oddities
but I ensure that I have the UK dictionaries installed and that my spell
checker is set to use them. If that's OK, download the US version,
install it and then do, in Writer, File>Wizards>Install New
Dictionaries. Choose the ones you want (spelling and/or thesaurus and/or
hyphenation) and then do Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages. Once
there ensure UK English is selected as your default language. If you are
a polyglot you can of course create and spell-check documents in
multiple languages *provided* the relevant dictionaries are installed
and you tell Writer, usually using Styles, which language a particular
word or paragraph is in. Or you can use a different language "for this
document", again *provided* the relevant dictionaries are installed.
