I went to delete my "Subscript" character style, which I did not think I
was using. OO warned me: "You are deleting an applied style!" Okay,
I'll have to find where I'm using it. I went to Font Effects for the
style and added Blinking, then scrolled through the document. Nothing
seemed to blink. Fine, I'll just search for it. I went to the
Find/Replace dialog, clicked on Attributes under More Options, checked
"Blinking," clicked OK, then "Find All". I was rewarded with "Search
key not found."
OO still says the style is applied (somewhere). The style still has
Blinking checked. I still see nothing blinking, and searching as above
finds nothing.
Just did some testing with various styles and formats, both within a
style and directly applied. It look like searching for these no longer
works! Gaahh! When did that happen? Find and Replace finds nothing.
It seems to be a genuine bug. I’ve no time at the moment to reboot and
do a methodical examination. But something seems to be seriously wrong.
I appreciate your problem, as I’ve dealt with documents that have bits
of older stuff in them that shouldn’t be, such as a character here and
there in a font no longer used elsewhere or styles applied to spaces.
And I did used to find these by searching. But I haven’t used
OpenOffice.org for serious writing for months.
