Here's another one: Joe says "today I will replace MSO with Open Office". He downloads OOo, falls in love with Writer, and decides to write to his grandmother and tell her all about it. But, he has no email client! So long as people perceive Outlook to be part of MSO, then they will consider OOo to be feature incomplete without an email client. Even if they do not need integration, and even if Tbird or another email client is freely available.
