Yes, what if? Why on earth should that make any difference? Whichever is
installed *second* discovers the presence of the first and moulds itself
accordingly. It's not hard. The only hard part is imagining that it's
possible. Oh, and seeing why it's desirable. KISS.
I also agree with another post which suggested placing a message on the
OO.o download site recommending Thunderbird/Lightning as an email/calender
program. There should also be a link to the Thunderbird download site.
I am in total agreement.
