If you don't want to download the beta, you should have X11 installed on the machine already. It's normally located on HD -> Applications -> Utilities. It would start up when you launch Open Office.

Hi, not sure if this is the address to write to about a problem with
 Open Office.

We purchased Open Office and it works great with Windows Vista, but we
 now have a MAC.

 Mac OS X, 10.5.4, Leopard

We have tried to install Open Office on our Mac, but it just want work
 or open.

Can you please help us, we have read some of the information you have on
 your
web site, but there is so much information.

We are also not sure about the X11, since its says for Panther & Tiger.

We hope you can help us so we can download the correct version or give
us instructions on what we must do.

We are really newbies at this Mac.

 Thank You

 Ellan
Hi Ellan,
First off, you can get openoffice for free here:
http://www.openoffice.org/
You don't need to pay anything for Openoffice unless you want to.
I don't use a mac so I can't help you there but I know you can download a
version that runs natively on the Mac (no need for X11). You find that
here:
http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/
Just download the version that says MacOSXIntel Aqua. It's 168MB so it will
take a while to download depending on how fast your connection is.
Have fun,
Jonathan
