I don't know if it helps but you can move the entire toolbar somewhere
else if you like. For example you can have it vertically down one side
or the other of the window. To do this, put the cursor over the 5 dots
showing at the left end of the bar, hold down the left mouse button and
drag the bar elsewhere. If the bar is vertical the 5 dots are at the
top. Apologies if that was teaching my grandmother to suck eggs.
I tried side docking when I first tried Writer a couple of years ago --
didn't like it. But now that I am more familiar with OO.o, I am going
to take your advice and see if I can get used to my toolbar on the side.
I think it will make my 'Style Group' request more important to me. We
will see.
Thanks for the tip.
Hi Bill
Just a suggestion which could help for your "Style Group" idea is to
make a template or series of templates using the styles you expect to
use. Note that the style has to be actually used on some, perhaps dummy,
text before it is saved in the template. Then if you save the document
with the "Styles and Formatting" window set at the "Applied Styles"
menu, all those will be listed and immediately available.
I don't know if that sort of arrangement would help, but I use it all
the time for my, admittedly fairly simple, requirements.

Russell
