There's no difference between a RPM and CPAN version except for how you
administrate things.  I'd say that if you generally use RPM, then use RPM.  If
you generally do things via CPAN, use CPAN.  Don't mix the two if you can help
it.  (personally, I use RPM for everything)

I would remove all related files from the CPAN install, then install
the RPM version.  You don't want to have different versions installed
at the same time since it could lead to problems down the road.
