Technically it is only "up to" 32 fluid ounces (1 quart), so that a one
litre size is not allowed since it is 33.8 fl.oz., just a little more than
32 fl.oz.

I have point out this apparently inadvertant problem in the law and my state
representative has said that he will bring this to the attention of the
aprorpriate committee.

I suggested to him that this was merely an "oversight" because the
legislature had intended to make all sizes legal (not just metric). They did
this by amending a section of the law that had previoulsy governed sizes up
to 32 oz. In modifying the law they removed the restriction that had limited
sizes to just certain specific ounce sizes (up to 32 oz.). This therefore
allowed ANY size, ounces or metric (up to 32 oz.). They unfortunately
"forgot" to remove the 32 oz. upper limit in that section of the law when
they made the other change.

My suggestion to my rep. was to, either:

(1) remove the upper limit completely,
 or
(2) change the upper limit to 1 litre (which would still include the old 32
oz. quart but would make 1 litre legal, too).

I don't know why an upper limit is necessary at all, but aparently some
legislators thought it was so I made the second suggestion in case they
didn't like the simpler first one.
