Terry,

I'm sorry that duplicate copies of my postings are a nuisance for you.

I send duplicate copies for two reasons:

1. For e-mail, I use "PINE" which works most directly with my account
on the UNIX staff-server here on the University of Illinois Campus.
No downloading is required. Deletions are fast and easy.

A single key stroke sends my reply to the address after the incoming
"From" and also to all the addresses after the incoming "To" and also
to all the addresses after the incoming "Cc". No editing of the header
is required. e.g. deletion of the poster's address and substitution of
the USMA-Colorado address.

2. Some subscribers to the USMA server list "hit and run"; they post
an item and then promptly unsubscribe. To be certain that the poster
receives my reply (sometimes a week or more later) I deliberately include
the actual e-mail address of the poster in the header of my reply.

For exchanges with you, beginning with this reply to you, I'll try to
remember to edit the header so that you receive only one copy of my reply
by way of the server in Colorado.

Gene.
