I think your difficulty is purely linguistic. The three days in the biblical account are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The gospel writers followed the same convention now used in the French and German languages (and probably in more languages that I do not know) by which a week is called 8 days and a fortnight is called 15 days.

In case anybody wonders why the Jews used such pagan names for the days of the week, they didn't. They numbered the days of the week, and we have applied our pagan names to them.
