If the metric system is all of that as many people would say it is then why

It shall be ideal to pose THIS QUESTION to the best THINK TANK in America;
and let the think ask themselves: why is that America insists in using the
'old American spellings' for Litre & Metre rather than fall in line with Le
Systeme International d'Unites.

But metric IS being used almost everywhere and for almost everything ...
everywhere but in the USA. Doesn't the fact that it is used by 96% of the
world's population show that it probably is the better system?
The fact that it is not yet widely accepted in daily use by those of us in
the US is a result of many factors including Americans' superiority
complex and our isolationist attitudes. SI is coming in the US but it is
coming slowly because of the lack of political leadership to get the ball
really rolling.
When talking about how widely accepted SI is, be sure to look world wide,
not just at the US.
