I would classify the primary display as the one that is larger, MPH on US
vehicles, km/h on Canadian vehicles where there are dual scales.
Many GM vehicles have a selection of US/Metric. This changes every display
in the vehicle to metric or US as required. The speedometer background does
not change, the needle will move from 30 to 50 and a small light changes
from mph to km/h. Plus the temperature display now in Celsius, the tire
pressures are displayed as kPa, etc. Only drawback is that the Speedometer
scale goes to 120, this is fast in miles per hour, but easy to exceed in
km/h, this means the needle will be pegged out at the top of the scale when
exceeding 120 km/h (the normal speed limit in many countries). It would have
been better if they'd made the the scale read to 200 or at least 150.
It's very unfortunate that Mercedes decided to offer an option to see all
sorts of metric data but the temperature in the US is in F only and the
speedometer is in mph only. If they'd done what GM had done it would keep
everyone happy.

I've seen plenty of them that have dual with km/h in very tiny unlit letters
under the larger mph ones but no analog speedometers that display solely in
km/h
I do agree that both should be displayed.
