I just sold my 2000 Passat and elected to not buy a new one because of
the MPH speedometer alone. VW lost a $30,000 sale. I went with a Honda.

This weekend's drive through Canada reinforced the need for being able
to display km/h on the speedometer. There were a number of Ontario
Provincial Police cars hidden away looking for speeders. I was
fortunate that I was watching my speed, and that I was driving the car
with the dual display. At one point someone within 200 m of me was
pulled over. This doesn't bode well for my Passat going to Canada
anytime soon.
