I wonder if it is even a compelling advertising point. My various flat screen devices range from about 60 -125 mm thick, and I wouldn't pay to replace one with a 30 mm thick one (unless some other feature were compelling).
If they are on a stand, the stand is considerably deeper than the screen (or it would fall over), and the wall mounts are probably thicker than the advertised screen. Now if the mass is reduced so you can hang it on a nail like a picture, maybe they are getting somewhere. ________________________________ From: Remek Kocz <[email protected]> To: U.S. Metric Association <[email protected]> Cc: U.S. Metric Association <[email protected]> Sent: Sat, May 1, 2010 10:49:50 PM Subject: [USMA:47294] Give them an inch... Given the fact that world allowed the US companies to ram inches down everyone's throats for diagonal screen measurements, now it will have to put up with more of the same nonsense. As televisions are becoming thinner and thinner, worldwide players like Samsung are now advertising the thickness of their television sets in...inches. I just saw an ad for a set that measures 1.2". You'd tink that this would be the natural place for millimeters or centimeters, but give them an inch...
