A couple of things those articles should possibly incorporate: *FMVSS101 requires a miles per hour speedo in US cars;however, it allows a secondary kilometer per hour scale. If the secondary is used it must be labeled km/h (upper case is permitted); kph or KPH is NOT allowed. (The AP Style Book uses an abbreviation which is illegal in at least one context.)
*Unfortunately the 2009 MUTCD has dropped all metric sign messages and moved metric physical dimension for signs to a hard-to-use appendix. Until that decision is reversed, I think new metric signage is dead in the US.
