But [so the rumour on mission went] they won't be called to any bishopric
or stake calling so long as they have a beard (and maybe not Elder's
Quorum President, either). I've heard many stories about various people
(like this Shreveport instance) "counseling" church members not to have
beards.

We all figured it was the best way to escape getting a major calling in
the church--just grow a beard! I just have to wait until I graduate, first
...
