Man, I gotta do a FAQ on this!!!! Easiest fastest way to remove the races in
the steering head is to weld a bead around the inner surface of the race. When
it cools, it will shrink the race and you will be able to remove it. To get
the lower bearing off the stem, you can cut the cage off it and use a "bearing
spreader" on the lip of the race and with the assistance of a hydraulic press
you can remove it. An automotive machine shop can do this. Or use a cutoff
disk in a dremel tool (or air grinder) and cut through it.
