Jim,

Use an arc or mig welder and run a bead around the race in the frame.
Be careful not to hit the frame. The "Cup" or race will practically fall out
as it will shrink from the weld. You may also try to drive it out which sucks
cause you cant get a tool on it and it will cock in the steering head. The
"cone" or bearing is done one of two ways. Cut the cage and rollers away. you
may weld it also and it will expand the race. Or clamp a bearing splitter
tightly on the inner race. Press it off if you can,or use a drift to drive
the splitter of the steering stem. clamp the stem in a vice with soft jaws.
You may drive it off with a cold chisel if you don't have a spliter, careful
not to maul the clamp. The bearing is special only to Yamaha with the seal.
It `s like $50.00. If you want just the bearings without the seal they can be
bought at any bearing shop or bike shop. Timkin is a good brand. They are
under 20.00 for both. Save the old races to help drive the new bearings on
damage free. They will work as your installer tools. Good Luck

Ian
