Nope, it's easy.  All the new models use sealed bearings, and I would recommend
them.  You can grease the speedo unit and the seal on the outside of the bearing
will keep the grease where it belongs.  Here is the trick for removing the
bearings.....

Smack the center portion of  the bearing using a piece of steel, socket or
whatever you have around with a hammer (this will destroy the bearing).  Smack
both sides until you feel the center sleeve between the bearings becomes loose
enough to move.  Insert a drift or rod through the inside from the LEFT side and
you can get the sleeve to move over enough on the RIGHT side to drive the
bearing out.  You can remove the center sleeve after that bearing is removed to
get the other bearing out.  There is a special piece of metal on the LEFT side
that holds the spacer sleeve centered and prohibits it's movement.  You have to
do it in the order I said or you won't get them out.
