In reference to recent pipe posts I thought somebody might find this
interesting .. With all the stainless stuff out there today I suppose
it may be academic but stainless does turn, (color), and some may
prefer a different finish. I saved this old thread as a classic since
Dale himself had responded, (as list members were pulling his chain
again) ....

Hi Robert,

Since you posted this on the list, I felt I should respond back on the
list about our exhaust pricing. This is also not by any means, a
bashing response towards your posting. My Vortex Exhaust, Hindle and
Sudco are all three bent by Hindle. Hindles plating is called chromed.
Sudco just happens to call it nickel. This plating blues quickly and
causes early corrosion. I know this because I carry a few chrome
Hindle V4 Honda systems. And for six years, I carried the
out-of-the-box chrome Hindle V-MAX pipe. A non-ceramic coated pipe
will start to rust internally as well. Corrosion inside the primary
tubes causes metal deterioration and scaling restricting exhaust flow
and
shortening the life of the exhaust system. This is why I chose to have
the Vortex 4-1 and 4-1-2 header metallic
ceramic coated by Jet Hot Coatings. I spend quite a bit more and have
all the tubing coated, inside and out. This eliminates metal
deterioration, scaling, improves exhaust flow and makes the exhaust
more efficient by holding a lot more heat inside the header tubes and
collector. We also build ours with a 2" core, no tip muffler which
most customers seem to like better on the V-MAX.

Warranty: We are the only company in the industry that offers a
lifetime rust through protection warranty on this type of metallic
ceramic coating. This means if rust does start to appear on the
surface and you cannot polish
it off, Jet Hot will recoat it for life to the original purchaser at
no charge, excluding shipping. The coating cost on the a V-MAX 4-1 is
about $140.00 to $180.00 retail depending on the coating company you
choose. This should not be confused with the coating costs of a
typical inline 4 cylinder exhaust which is cheaper in price. Keep in
mind, only Jet Hot will offer the lifetime rust through warranty on
the Holeshot Vortex header. I noticed you chose the Kerker Exhaust
system. The V-MAX Kerker 4-1 is also a very well made exhaust system.
It does have a couple small differences. Our Vortex header retains the
center stand. With the Kerker, you have to remove the center stand and
grind your mounts clear off the frame. And, it comes with a very small
baffle in the muffler. To get equal
performance to our Vortex, you are going to have to order a 2" medium
comp baffle. They usually run $60.00 to $80.00. Then the pipes are
pretty heads up performance wise. So this whole exhaust thing just
gets down to a personal choice. Being a small company, we just try to
make ours a little better than the competitions out of the
box. It cost more money to do so. At $699.00 with everything included,
we feel ours is a good value and we have many satisfied customers.

Regards,
Dale
