I'd have to disagree with THAT.  I'm also on the GTS-1000 list, and 
there's a Yamaha rep who actively participates.  I'm not sure just how
much feedback he gives the factory, but things DO get done.  
An example:  You may have heard of the Antilock Brakes hydraulic unit
failures.  The GTS group banded together, and got Yamaha to: 
        1. Acknowledge that there are too many problems with the unit
           to be coincidence.
        2. REPLACE all defective units FREE of charge, INCLUDING labor.

Now, the wheels of progress turn slowly, and they didn't arrive at 
this position overnight.  But they DID get there.  
And one thing's for certain: The VMOA and Tech Listers have a member
directory which is an order of magnitude larger than that of the GTS group.
(And they're even still bringing Vmaxes into the States, something which
cannot be said for the GTS)
