Chris, I just read your response on Mick's oil leak. His oil leak could
be like you said the shift shaft seal or the neutral switch o-ring. I
had to replace a leaking shift shaft seal on one of my Maxes. I was
wondering if you would do me a favor and check your stator wires and see
if they are oily. I've had 2 maxes and after a while the stator wires
saturate with oil and will leak out their seal. At the base of the left
rear cylinder you'll see a rubber cap about 1 1/4 inch square. Pull that
up and look at the 3 stator wires and see if yours are oily. When these
do get saturated with oil they generally leak when your riding your bike
and spray a little rearward on the muffler.
