If the bike seems to run fine with no odd noises and no leaks, I'd say give
it a shot. But, I'd sure try the 25 $100 bills approach! Folks have a hard
time turning down green backs.
Another thing to consider, you could buy a newer bike for say $6,500. Think
of all the things you could do to this bike for $4,000. Most of the common
upgrades and repairs can be done for less than $1,000. Even if you do all
of them plus a few, you've still got yourself a nice Max for less than $5K.
