Anodizing is an electrochemical process that produces an controlled
oxidized surface (rust).  Once the surface is anodized, it can then be
dyed different colors.  Afterwards, a sealant can be used to reduce the
surface porosity this process produces.  It's a pretty good idea for a
different look.

You will need to locate a shop that does metal finishing.  They should
be able to help you out.  I'm curious to see the final results.
