Way back, when I was the Ohio State Director, Harry Clemens had a
problem with his new V-Max. The engine was making all sort of noises,
and producing serious vibrations while riding it, over 5,000 RPM.
The Yamaha dealer, (where he bought the bike) didn't cooperate at all
with Harry, they stated that Yamaha would NOT pay them for the
labor/time involved, hence they were NOT willing to help, so Harry
decided to take his bike to another Yamaha dealer, in a town 75 miles
away from his house.
They checked the bike, found the problem, and gave him the name and
phone #, from the PA representative, who, at the beginning, gave Harry
many excuses and BS.
Well, I got in touch with the PA area representative at Yamaha
Headquarters, and after a long conversation, some mild bitching, and the
"hint", of posting on the Internet, about their poor Customer Service,
lack of manners and ethics, by some of their dealers by not honoring the
warranty of one of their products, the guy went to PA himself, had the
engine disassembled, checked the problem, and authorized the dealer to
replace EVERYTHING inside Harry's engine, but the cases, also he got
Yamaha to reimburse Harry, for the cost of transportation of his
motorcycle, from his previous dealer and back home. (this happened
during winter, so the bike could not be ridden back home).

Harry Clemens is a dear friend of mine, that's why I did it, but also
this goes to show,
that if you let these people know, that you belong to an Association
that is willing to stay behind its members, things get taken care of,
and FAST!!

Of course, this was back in 97, now, we have different authorities in
charge of the VMOA, who may not think these actions are acceptable.....
