I've been assured that the Z1 callipers fit the Max straight away, no fuss, even that
the Z6 uses the same. Checked with Yamaha dealer and he says that according to his
microfiches the 2000 Z1 is not the same part number as the 2000 Z6 and even more they
are not the same as earlier models. He suggested I take the bike to his showroom and
compare them with the V-max fixings.

What I would like to know is what model was the bike that whoever did this
modification borrow them from. I know Steve Gill used a 99 UK Z1, what about the rest?

And the other thing is what is the reason for such an improvement? My guess is that
they have more surface and the pistons are bigger in dia., thus more volume has to be
pumped for the same travel, then the tiny reservoir we have might be getting pretty
empty, plus the extra angle needed on the hand lever before the pads bite firmly
against the discs........ I guess braided hoses is a must if you make this mod to
loose as little brake liquid as possible due to the hose expansion from the pressure
exerted.

Thanks in advance,
