By all means, hit the s.o.b.  Furbur does this with no harm.  Be really,
really careful that the puller is dead nuts parallel with the flywheel face.
Reason is that if it is canted a tad, it will cause a lateral pull on the
tapered shaft.  Try any penetrate into the shaft seem.  Kroil is good - even
WD 40.  Use two torches - one doesn't provide enough heat.  Rent a really
powerful impact wrench.  Take the night off - have a beer.  Good luck - it
will come off - have faith.
