It's me with the oil drinking V-Max again....
OK I took the advice of the list and pulled my air box cover to see if my oil
consumption problem was due to a PCV problem. My air box is clean as a
whistle - no oil.
The next step was to pull the plugs and examine them. I have four PICS of my
plugs if any guru out there could give me some advice on the next step. Hey
TC you there... I could e:mail him the PICS so he could take a look. These
plugs have 2,000 miles on them. In this time I have had to place 4 quarts of
syntethic lub in the case. Bike is a 99 with 9,000 miles.
The next step I am going to take is to change back to Yamalub Race and keep
exact records of the oil consumption. The figures above are a ball park. I
have gone from Kendoll to Castro to Mobel1. Three complete oil changes in
the last 1,500 miles to see if it was a brand problem. I do not remember the
bike drinking Yamalube Race so that is the next step. Some have suggested
that my rings have not seated. If this were the case wouldn't I have had
this problem from day one? Or is it a situation that gets worse with time.
